Camera Tripod
When talking with most photographers, they will tell you that camera tripods, with their sometimes subtle features, can be the difference between owning an indispensable asset and a piece of junk.
When researching camera tripods, here are a few key things to look for:
LOAD CAPACITY - How heavy is the equipment the tripod is going to hold? You will need to make a selection from the camera tripods that will properly support the weight of your camera.
WEIGHT/LOCATION - For lightweight and portable or outdoor use, look for carbon fiber legs and recessed spike feet. If it will just remain in your studio, this is less of an issue.
HEIGHT - For easy height adjustments varying from a couple inches to over seven feet, look for a rapid column adjuster.
HEAD - Look for camera tripods that can adjust quickly and can easily lock in at any angle. Also, try a few different designs and skip on the fluid head which is primarily for video. Find one with a quick release for easy transitions from tripod to handheld.
It is important to note that a great tripod is a valuable tool for any photographer, amature or professional. Choose wisely.
